Public Speaking
Blog
Here are two reflection blogs for this course that relate to my personal and academic interests.
Reflection #1
This is my first time creating an online electronic portfolio. My goal for this is to be content with the best that I can do. I hope to present work in a beautifully aesthetic and accessible way. The easiest part of setting up the Wix account was using the artificial assistant which would adjust the themes and style of the webpage. The most difficult part would be getting used to the format of the design page. I had very slight experience with website designing in middle and high school, so some of the formatting was a bit disorienting. As I am writing this blog post, I currently feel a bit more confident in my online presence. I hope that the people taking the time to read this can find me relatable. An online portfolio could be helpful in my professional life, as it should be a digital organization of my work and accomplishments. My biggest goal is to be able to form connections and be able to stand out. Moving forward, I’m left to wonder how do I find the balance of maintaining professionalism on a still visually appealing website that keeps the interest of the audience?

Reflection #2
In what ways do you think you improved your professional presence after completing the eP?
I believe that creating this online portfolio forced me to be more mindful about how I present myself in a professional space. I am more conscious about how I word my sentences in an eloquent manner. Along with having appropriate diction, it is also important to present my information in a way that is aesthetically pleasing and easy to digest.

Identify and explain what you like most about your eP.
I really like how well my online portfolio is organized. I also think that the visuals are a good representation of my professional self. Aesthetically, I am more of a maximalist that enjoys quirky designs and bold pops of color, but my portfolio captures a different side of me.

Identify the most challenging aspect of the eP.
This is the first time I had to create an online portfolio and I struggled the most with the formatting of all the different pages. I wanted everything to look interesting but not monotonous and repetitive.
What advice would you give future students about the eP?
I would suggest for students to continuously update their online portfolios. I think it would look fuller and be a great aid if they would add their work after its completed, rather than waiting to add everything at once.

How do you think this course could benefit you in your chosen career?
As I had stated earlier, I plan on majoring in psychology and I am looking into counseling. This requires very personal conversations between me and clientele. I believe that this course has taught me how to be organized and thoughtful with how I present information.
